Latest on Costa coffee moving to old Frankie and Benny’s in Uttoxeter

Sep 3, 2021 | Uttoxeter

Part of a former restaurant will become a Costa Coffee after plans received approval. Last year, proposals approved converting part of the former Frankie and Benny’s at Dove Fields Retail Park into a Greggs bakery.

The new Uttoxeter Costa will be the town’s third location, joining existing stores on High Street and at Tesco.

The Restaurant Group, which owned Frankie and Benny’s, explained it suffered heavily during the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, it decided to reduce rent expenses as it entered a company voluntary arrangement with landlords.

The closures of 125 sites were reported to cause the loss of 3,000 jobs. Before lockdown, 236 Frankie and Benny’s operated across the UK.

Plans for 188 and 189 Waterloo Street involve combining both into one store. They also include erecting a two-storey, first-floor rear extension. Additionally, a dropped kerb will be formed at 188-190 Waterloo Street in Burton. These works are for Mr. Raheel Fayyaz, represented by AK Innovative Design Solutions LTD.
