Supported Living Development at Former Hill House Hotel in Normanton

A developer plans to convert the former Hill House Hotel in Normanton into supported living accommodation for people with mental health illnesses. This development aims to offer a safe, supportive environment where residents can live independently before returning to the wider community.

AK Innovative Design Solutions submitted the planning statement for St Chads Road Supporting Housing. The statement highlights Derby’s urgent need for more supported living for individuals with mental health challenges.

The building will become a 10-bedroom complex designed to meet the specific needs of residents. On the first floor, there will be six bedrooms, including two with en-suite showers. The floor will also include two bathrooms and an office space for staff.

The second floor will feature two bedrooms, both with en-suite showers, plus access to roof space. This design balances residents’ privacy with opportunities for community interaction, ensuring comfort and support.

This redevelopment addresses a crucial gap in Derby’s housing options for vulnerable people. It will help residents regain independence in a stable and secure setting. Moreover, it will reduce pressure on healthcare services by providing specialized supported living accommodation.

The proposal aligns with local and national policies promoting supported living for people with mental health conditions. If approved, the project will positively impact the Normanton community by providing essential housing and enhancing residents’ wellbeing.

Derby City Council is expected to review the application soon. The developer and AK Innovative Design Solutions plan to begin work promptly to meet the growing demand for supported living in Normanton and beyond.
